Talent Development Programmes
Overview of Talent Development in Cedar Girls’
Cedar’s Talent Development Programme (TDP) empowers students to take ownership of their learning journeys by exploring diverse learning domains, guided by their interests, choices, and readiness. Students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential for thriving in a rapidly changing world, cultivating adaptability, critical thinking, and a passion for lifelong learning.
Central to the programme are the three Es: Exposure, Experience, and Extension. These tiers of engagement and complexity shape learning experiences tailored to each student’s needs:
- Exposure: Broad-based learning opportunities that encourage students to explore and discover their interests
 - Experience (Tier 1): Focused engagement in specific domains for students who want to explore deeper into areas of interest
 - Extension (Tier 2): Deeper and sustained engagement that challenges students to deepen their expertise and contribute meaningfully in their chosen fields.

The programme is intentionally flexible, allowing porosity between domains and tiers. This dynamic structure enables students to move across different levels of engagement as their interests and readiness evolve, ensuring a personalised learning experience.
TDP also provides optional interdisciplinary learning experiences to allow students across different domains to transfer and apply their knowledge, skills, and dispositions in varied contexts, enriching their overall growth.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
Cedar’s STEM Talent Development Programme ignites curiosity in STEM through diverse learning experiences from enrichment workshops to olympiads, and research project investigations. This year, Cedarians excelled at national and international platforms, honing critical inquiry skills and achieving multiple awards. We also welcomed former NASA astronaut, Dr. Jeff Williams who shared his inspiring space exploration journeys with Cedarians.
Social Innovation
Social Innovation is a signature programme at Cedar. All Year 1 and Year 2 students participate in a school-based Social Innovation and Research (SIR) curriculum, where they apply the design thinking framework and utilize digital tools to solve real-world problems. This year, the Year 1 students explored topics related to sustainability, health, and technology, while Year 2 students focused on the challenges of a super-aged society. All Year 3 IP students also attend the annual Social Innovation Day held in collaboration with Victoria School.
To nurture talents in Social Innovation, Cedar offers both Tier 1 and Tier 2 Talent Development Programmes (TDSI) to develop Cedarians into leaders in this field. TDSI students engage in a range of activities, including a series of specialised programmes, competitions and an overseas learning journey.
Regional Studies, Humanities and Social Studies (RHS)
The Regional Studies, Humanities and Social Science Talent Development (RHS-TD) Programme is introduced at the upper secondary level to provide opportunities for students to develop their passion in the Humanities, while deepening their appreciation and understanding for the various fields in the Humanities and Social Sciences. RHS-TD creates enrichment opportunities by allowing students to collaborate with mentors from tertiary institutions to design experiential learning opportunities to appreciate the Humanities outside of their syllabus scope.
The 6-year Regional Studies Programme (RSP), comprising four years at Cedar Girls' Secondary and two at Victoria Junior College, is a scholarship initiative that fosters a deep understanding of ASEAN's cultural, socio-economic, and political landscapes. RSP students study Malay as a third language, empowering them to communicate effectively within the region.
Through weekly lessons, seminars with other RSP institutions and the Ministry of Education, as well as museum visits and theatre experiences, students engage in dynamic, interactive learning. Annual overseas trips further enrich this experience; this year, students explored Javanese culture in Jogjakarta, Indonesia and embarked on a sustainable learning journey in Surabaya, while Year 2 students visited Langkawi, Malaysia. These immersive experiences broaden students’ perspectives, bringing valuable insights and a global outlook back to the Cedar community.
